La Tomate occupies a prominent corner in Washington DC’s historic and diverse Dupont Circle neighborhood. Family owned and operated since 1987; it has become a favorite destination for Washingtonians and visitors alike. The bar, first & second floor dining rooms are surrounded by large windows with panoramic avenue views providing a wonderful venue to watch the lively urban scene that makes Dupont Circle so special.

You can enjoy pleasant outdoor dining in our a lush outdoor seasonal patio. Recent innovations include a new “Prosciutto Bar”, redesigned dining rooms and an awning on the patio. Executive Chef, Vincenzo Belvito, has made some refreshing changes to our menu.

Neighborhood Bistro

La Tomate, a neighborhood bistro, features affordable regional Italian cuisine complimented by friendly service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu which changes seasonally, offers daily specials, home-made fresh & dry pastas, seafood, assorted meat and poultry entrees. Vegetarian and whole wheat pasta options are available. The Prosciutto Bar, equipped with an imported Italian artisanal hand slicer, offers a selection of shaved  Italian cured meats and cheeses. Desserts such as tirami su, zabaione with fresh strawberries; excellent Illy coffees; and a selection of organic herbal teas make a great “dolce finale” to the meal.

Group Events

La Tomate is the perfect space for group functions such as birthdays, showers, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, corporate events and retirement parties. The upstairs dining room can accommodate a maximum of 65 persons and a full restaurant buy-out is also an option. Customized or set menus are available. Our dedicated staff are ready to provide our guests quality service and excellent food.
